How My Day Job Inspired Founders Of X
Today’s post is something a little different. Instead of posting an actionable tip or piece of advice (don’t worry there’s plenty more of those coming at ya), I’m sharing why I started Founders of X in hopes that you may be able to relate or find inspiration.
Most people start a business because they hate their day job. They start a business out of boredom or motivation to get out of wherever they are. And I completely understand that. I’ve been there. But this time round, I’m not one of them. Yes, my nine to five pushed me to start Fox but not for the reasons you might think.
The better way to phrase it is that my nine to five inspired me to start this blog. It uncovered a passion I have for building relationships, educating and inspiring people. I work as a recruiter for a fashion retailer. I spend every day meeting, interviewing, inspiring and creating connections with people. Is it exhausting? Absolutely. Are there times I want to pull my hair out? Of course. But, when it all comes down to it, I love it.
I love that I have the privilege of being a part of someone’s career journey. I meet with people of all ages, sometimes the interview is the first step in their career and sometimes they want to re-invent themselves in a completely new career. I get to meet with these people, understand where they came from, what drives them, what inspires them, what their goals are and how they want to get there. In turn, I listen, educate them on opportunities and on what they need to succeed, inspire and excite them to work for the business and, if they’re the right fit, create the opportunity for them to take the next step in their career and make sure they’re set up for complete success. Then I get to watch them grow.
So that right there is why I started Founders of X. To take the parts I love most from what I do in my day job and extend my reach in areas I know I can make a difference. I love being a part of people’s corporate career path and now I want to be a part of people’s entrepreneurial journey too. As an entrepreneur myself, I wanted to take my knowledge and experience and apply it in the same way I do in my day job.
So, I’m here to help you take those first steps on your new entrepreneurial path. To help educate and inspire you and set you up for success in your business. I’m providing actionable tips and practical resources to plan your business, build your brand, leverage social media and hire a team. I’ll be your resource and guide on your journey as an entrepreneur.
I hope this post inspires you to look closely at what you’re doing now. To take the pieces you love about your current job and decide if there’s a part of it you’d want to pursue on the side. If there is, start to brainstorm how you can build a business around it. You’re the boss so make your own rules, focus on what you love and get creative.
